Apart from the ESQ, there is another major happening in my life today, and of course that was the Chelsea - Liverpool Stamford Bridge clash.
It is the top of the table clash, and with Hull magnificently drawing equal with both of the teams, win is a must.
A match against the Blues does not stir emotions as much as against the Devils. Still, it is and it will be very nervy to face against any of the other so-called big four teams, because they are more than capable of beating Liverpool.
But oh my God we won! At Stamford Bridge! Wooooooooooo! Chelsea have been unbeaten at home in the Premier League for more than 4 years, shattering Liverpool's own home record along the way. And how sweet that their record fell down to Liverpool. United could have won it earlier in the season, and if they did, that'll make this victory less sweeter, but they did not.
And not just them, numerous other teams had come close to beating Chelsea at the Bridge. But it is their resilience that made them unbeaten for so long. I remember when Essien smacked a glorious equalizer against Arsenal quite some time ago, and when Kalou popped in a header with less than 10 minutes left in that game against United. They could always do the trick again, but not this time.
Chelsea had numerous chances to go forward, but credit to the defence for keeping it very tight. When they manage to create clear chances, they were off target. Liverpool themselves, despite being defensive, also had a few chances themselves.
It is frustrating to see when Liverpool are trying to be Arsenal, trying to walk the ball into the goal. They did the same against Atlético, and they equalized. Thankfully, Chelsea did not. And some great runs into the box, such as Riera from the left in the first half or Mascherano from the right in the second half, was wasted.
But in the end, Webb blew the final whistle, and finally Stamford Bridge was conquered. We are top of the table! And I overheard the commentators mentioning a possible unbeaten season, that would be super sweet, but I'll settle with a 19th after the 19th year waiting!
