Everton 1-2 Liverpool: Controversial

Liverpool won. But it was far from satisfaction.

As a matter of fact, I believe there are Liverpool fans around the world saying, "Fuck, Benitez gets to live another day."

For the series of horrible off form performances Liverpool have managed to string, it is bizarre that they are still unbeaten in the league.

Benitez, a manager who has brought a humble 21st century Liverpool to two European finals in three years, is now under fire for his unbeaten performance of his team. Bizarre, if you consider statistics.

However, performance wise, it is horrible. Apart from wins against Wigan (1-0) and Everton (2-1) which both are controversial, Liverpool has only won once since the 6-0 demolition of Derby, and that is the 4-2 win against Reading in the League Cup.

In this merseyside derby, arguably the second most important fixture after Manchester United, it was nothing better. Everton should've taken home full points. Gerrard is my favorite player, but fuck man, why did you dive? Why didn't you shoot? And what did you say to Clattenburg to make him retract your yellow to give Hibbert the red instead?

Neville's handball was rightly punished, but then there was the penalty claim for the Carragher foul on Lescott. Whether Clattenburg awards or does not award the penalty, it will still be controversial. Obviously it should be a penalty, but he did not award it to Everton, and that went to be the controversy of the weekend in Skysports. Should he award it, it will still be controversial, since it is already half a minute pass the allocated stoppage time.

Most news, though, did not cover the other penalty claim where Lescott got Finnan's hands all over him in the box. All in all, another horrible performance, and even more so tactically by Benitez. Why did he take off Gerrard?

Benitez, you got lucky again this time. Your rotation is under heavy critisicm, even your substitutions and tactics are highly questionable. It is only a matter of time until this club cannot afford to accommodate your huge ego.

Thank you Benitez, you gave us a European Cup to keep in our cabinet, but now we need to distant ourselves from MU being the most successful English club. If you can't deliver our 18th, then Gillett and Hicks will find someone who can.

  1. Nice post. an unbiased comment of a fan. You've got to admit Gerrard deserved to be substituted. He's below par either for Liverpool or for England.

Either way, Rafa subbed Stevie for Lucas Leiva, where Leiva's shot was the one which Nev handled awarding them a penalty.

/me still over the moon. 4-0, 4-1. We can get better :)

aku tengok balik highlight game liverpool tuh. demm ape carragher memang tarik abes mamat tuh. ref tak bagi penalty. tp yang gerrard dive tu aku tak bape sure la... can be debated la gak.

overall, 2 penalties and 2 red cards were needed gak kan kan kan?

eh.. sama la kite. 2 red cards gak, and a penalty miss :|

don't get annoyed. aku suke baca analisa ko. nampak la centralized judgement of a fan towards its team.
