Read (or proclaim)! In the name of your Lord and Cherisher, Who created,
Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood;
Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,
Who taught (the use of) the pen,-
Taught man that which he knew not.
Al-'Alaq:1-5
On this fateful day, which is of no mere coincidence, because it is of the choice of the Almighty, He descends the greatest miracle on Earth to the greatest man ever lived, Muhammad (peace be upon him), through His chief angel Jibril, in what would be a history-defining event that would change the whole course of the world, in redirecting humankind's beliefs into believing the one and only Creator, Allah.
And His first command to humankind is to read.
