Benitez fielded an unchanged eleven, an extremely rare occasion, maybe like once every two seasons.
Well, I guess he did that understandably. And I would agree to Rafa's decision, even though there's people saying this is the right time to rotate because they're playing twice in four days, I would say this is the perfect time to show that you earn what you deserve and play to your true ability.
Fulham might be aware, and they did a good job keeping Liverpool at bay for an amazing 80 minutes. Liverpool themselves are too elaborate, trying to be Arsenal in the penalty box, while for Fulham's credit, they did several last ditch tackles and Niemi pulled out some outstanding saves.
But finally they crack. That's when my friend SMSed to me that quote above. I like Crouch, I think he is Liverpool's best finisher, I like Voronin, he provides good assists (though he suck in finishing) but Torres is a class above them (hence making him the best finisher above Crouchie). His calmness, composure and creativity in creating the opening goal shows exactly what he is worth.
Later on, Liverpool won a disputable penalty (it was a foul, but just outside) which Gerrard converted.Confidence is high, and hopefully this international break will not bring a negative effect like the one after the 6-0 did.

ReplyDeleteyup, i agree.. i watched the game at Farouq's (bet u miss it already :P) and when it's 30 minutes of the 1st half, i already announce that it will be a fruitless 1st half!
and yup. i was wondering where is Xabi and Torres, or just ANYONE who can put the damn ball into the net. when Babel was in, my hope gets high altho i did put much hope on the hatrik boy, Benyoune.
agreed again, Voronin can only assist.
and when Torres gets in i was excited for both reason that hes cute and hes good. HAHAHA (cmon gimme a chance XP) and Gerrard penalty was awesome. my bet is the goalie's moral is down after the 1st goal. he gets clumsy after that.
yeah.. its kinda last minute, but winning streaks give us smilesss..
p.s. pray for my final will you? ;)
gudluk for your finals ^^
ReplyDelete1st goal is always crucial
liverpool might not have won 8-0 had crouch did not pounce on the rebound
1st goal gives psychological boost to the scoring team, and a slight dejection on the conceding team
2nd goal gives a huge drive to score more, and a huge letdown for the opposing team to catch up, which can lead to a thrashing
liverpool has only two consecutive wins, so that might not count as a streak, but let's hope it'll be =)
