Newcastle 0-3 Liverpool: Brilliant Stuff

Last time Liverpool hit form, they put six past Derby, then international break, then things go horribly wrong.

Never again, hopefully.

Gerrard, captain of eliminated England, needs to bounce back from the miserable midweek qualifiers to captain his club side. Booed every time he touches the ball, he responded in style. Hammered a freekick past Shay Given, took the corner kick which Hyypia helped it to Kuyt for the second, and laid off perfectly for Babel to seal the third.

Crouch, arguably England's only deserving player alongside Beckham against Croatia, was benched with Kuyt chosen ahead of him. But more remarkably, the man everyone wants to partner Crouch, Torres, miss an incredible number of chances to put his name on the scoresheet.

Newcastle, boasting the third largest attendance in the Premiership (used to be second before Emirates was completed) had to endure another painful home performance, which could've been worse if Given and Butt were not spared the red card. One scene showed two angry fans shouted at Allardyce, Big Sam hard as stone.

All round, incredible performance, absolutely brilliant, could've been a rout, Torres could've scored a hattrick or more, but I'd take a 3-0. Gerrard, as much as the England fans hate, might just be a better captain in red rather than white. Good thing the co-chairmen and manager talk did not have an ill effect, and with the back of this successive wins, hope Liverpool will continue to play like this and win - more importantly with style.
